In 1999, Scott Miller entered the University of Texas as an eager freshman excited to wear the burnt orange colors. UT proved to be a stepping stone to his first entrepreneurial venture–a residential house painting business. As a junior in college Scott started a small exterior painting business in the 78704 zip code. During an entire spring semester Scott knocked on doors looking for homeowners needing an exterior paint job. Juggling a rigid semester of upper-division Finance classes Scott managed to knock on doors, deliver over 100 handwritten paint estimates and maintain a 3.5 GPA. When the summer finally came around Scott personally recruited two college friends to paint 25 homes in the Travis Heights area. Scott learned how to deal with all the aspects of running a small painting business. He learned quickly a good referral is priceless. He became hyper focused on delivering an exceptional product and service each and every opportunity.
