Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is based on an estimation of time required to complete the job. I may not always be the cheapest but if you go with me you’ll always be happy with the result. Just look at our reviews.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
It depends on how I find the lead, but generally I gather personal info, info about the job, make an estimate, sell the job, do the job, collect payment, and ask for reviews and referrals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Years of personal experience, ISA Certification Course (still studying, but I am an active member) and networking with professionals in the business for collaborative advice on certain one off topics that arise.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Like Mark Cuban says, the best way to start a business is simply to start. I started this company with no tools, only doing weeding jobs to save up for a lawn mower. I began offering more and more services, building up experience and honing different skills. I found a passion for tree work, and so specialize in that now. But I still break things up by building a deck or fence here and there.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All types. When you’ve been doing this a while you meet every type of person.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My favorite project was a start to finish total property buildout. We removed an old fence, trimmed trees, removed trees, built a fence, built 2 decks, built a massive steel retaining wall, installed sod and plants, put in gravel, welded railings, and more. It was the most comprehensive project I’ve done, and it was cool to watch the property transform over the 3 months it took us to complete the job.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hire me! Haha no but seriously - just check reviews, ask relevant questions, make sure you know you’re working with someone who cares.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
This varies depending on situation. One question is “do I want to go with the cheapest price? How important is quality, track record and experience for this job? Does this company have valid insurance?
