What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Conducting a tree estimate in person allows for a thorough and personalized assessment, promotes effective communication, and ensures that the proposed plan meets the homeowner's needs and expectations.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initial Contact: The process begins when the customer reaches out to the tree service company, either by phone, email, or through the company's website.
Consultation: An experienced arborist or representative from the tree service company meets with the customer at their property to assess the trees and discuss the customer's goals, concerns, and budget. During the consultation, the arborist evaluates the health, size, and condition of the trees, as well as any potential safety hazards or site-specific challenges.
Proposal and Estimate: Based on the consultation, the arborist prepares a detailed proposal outlining the recommended services, including tree trimming, removal, stump grinding, or other necessary tasks.
Review and Approval: The arborist presents the proposal to the customer for review and approval. The customer may have questions or request modifications to the proposed plan, which the arborist addresses to ensure that the customer's needs are met.
Scheduling: Once the proposal is approved, the customer and the tree service company agree on a date and time for the work to be performed. The scheduling process takes into account the customer's availability and the company's workload and availability of equipment and crew.
Execution of Services: On the scheduled date, the tree service crew arrives at the customer's property to perform the agreed-upon services. The crew follows safety protocols and uses specialized equipment to complete the work efficiently and safely.
Completion and Cleanup: After the tree services are completed, the crew conducts a thorough cleanup of the work area, removing debris, branches, and any other materials generated during the project. The goal is to leave the property in better condition than before the work began.
Final Inspection and Customer Satisfaction: A final inspection is conducted to ensure that the customer is satisfied with the completed work. Any remaining questions or concerns are addressed, and the customer is provided with any necessary information or recommendations for ongoing tree care.
Follow-Up and Maintenance: Depending on the scope of the project, the tree service company may follow up with the customer to ensure that the trees are thriving and to schedule any necessary follow-up maintenance, such as pruning or fertilization.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Specialized Training: Tree risk assessment, tree climbing and rigging, tree care equipment operation and maintenance, urban forestry, and tree preservation.
On-the-Job Training: Working alongside experienced arborists to learn proper techniques, safety procedures, and best practices for tree care and maintenance.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Started off in the field of logging which is a physically demanding and potentially dangerous profession, so it's essential to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely and effectively. This is where I learned proper chainsaw operation techniques, understanding logging regulations and safety procedures, and gaining proficiency in operating logging equipment such as skidders, loaders, and delimbers. After forest fires burned down a lot of the areas, it was here that I took it to a smaller area to trees within the community and developed a passion for tree services.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Residential homeowners, commercial property owners and Homeowner Associations (HOAs)
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Beautiful property on 10 acres needed land clearing of trees and the access to the trees provided accessibility to perform the work the customer wanted. It took 4 days to trim, clean and remove multiple trees from 10-80ft.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Every tree and property is unique, and an in-person assessment allows the arborist to tailor their recommendations and solutions accordingly.
Check references and Insurance credentials.
Build Trust: Face-to-face interaction helps build trust and rapport between the arborist and the homeowner or tree owner. It allows the homeowner to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the arborist who will be working on their property, fostering a sense of confidence in the proposed services.
Select a provider who instills confidence, communicates effectively, and demonstrates professionalism and expertise in their field.
