Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
It's hard to give a price online or a pic. We need to see the tree in person. If we have to rope out the branches, top, and possibly have to piece out the rest of the tree, the price will be more. If there's enough room to top it and drop it, the price can be alot cheaper. This all depends how close the tree is to a home, fence, etc. It will make a big difference in the price.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
A new customer is added to our "Customer Family Tree"! Our family will take care of their property as if it was our own.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We have been your local tree specialist for 10 yrs. now. We have decided to get our Arborist license which we will be testing for later this year (next test session in Columbia).

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
After military life, we moved our family here. Michael Sr. got a job witha tree company and learned fast, taking over that company as a silent partner. We wanted to build a business that's honest, with lower competitive rates, and for our children to be proud of. We started our own local family business and have felt like we succeeded by our customers hugs and reviews.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We work with many HOAs, POAs, homeowners, businesses, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We had a customer that had just lost her husband and had been ripped off by another so called tree business. When she walked us around her property, she burst into tears. I had an amazing conversation with her, repaired the trees and mess they left, and added her to our "Customer Family Tree". During storms, we check on her. If she has any work that she needs done other than tree work, she will call and have me verify they are a reputable business. She really opened our eyes to what some customers really need, someone they can trust!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure they have Liability (protects your property) and Workmans Comp. (if someone gets hurt on your property, they can't sue you or your homeowners). Make sure all their employees and owners that are on your property are covered and it's not just a "ghost" policy. Call and verify that they are paid up to date. Check reviews online. Last but not least NEVER pay until they are finished & your 100% satisfied! If they are a real legit company, they should not be living day to day with pay, regardless of a sad story they give. Make sure they have a chip truck and chipper among other appropriate equipment, they need to finish the job.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Think about what you want, imagine the tree or trees removed. Make sure there's not any baby birds or squirrels. We can work and move them to a closer tree or rehabilitation center. Some birds are protected, they can not legally be moved without wildlife approval. We try not to renest unless it's an emergency to the home or property.
