Introduction

Maritime Roofing is a small, locally owned, Veteran run and operated CertainTeed, GAF and IKO Certified roofing contractor. Our company operates at the highest standards and we treat your home as if it were our family. We pay our installers above average wages because they are the best and most knowledgeable roof installers in our area. This means your money is spent on the installation - not TV, radio, and Home Show advertising budgets. Honesty is a cornerstone of our business, and we always strive to respect our clients. With Maritime Roofing, you will receive the desired results in a reliable and timely manner. We hope you see that we are competitively priced and pay close attention to the details of each project that we help with. Our values of excellence, integrity, and thoroughness are a refreshing change from the standard fare of businesses in our industry you may have seen in the past. We look forward to building lasting relationships and guarantee your satisfaction! Thank you for the opportunity to provide you with a solution to your home improvement needs. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We are as small as it gets. I'm the owner of the company, and I run the day to day operations. I spend my money on the Crews, materials and assessors. I do not buy new work trucks every year. I don't pay myself any more than a general manager would make in this position. I pay my crew and employees above a livable wage and am able to beat my competitors pricing because of how I run a very efficient Roofing Business.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We preform an initial inspection. We show up on time, every time. We leave our customers with a detailed estimate the same day. If we earn the customers business, we schedule a 2nd inspection. Then we order and deliver materials. A typical roofing job will take One to Two days to complete, including a professional clean up of the customers property.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Safety is always first. Our crew adhere to the rules and regulations that are set for us and we always follow the rules of safety. All of our crews are trained to install the products that we sell. In this day of material shortages, if we can't get a certain accessory or the product we sold, I will upgrade the assessors or material at no cost to my customer. I still have to keep our workers working. Our customers still need to have a roof protecting their home, so I will buy the materials necessary to get their project installed, as promised.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was stationed in Bremerton, WA and was an Airedale on the USS Carl Vinson. I wanted to move to WA and work for Boeing as an Aviation Electrician. Unfortunately, I was a terrible electrician and had to learn a new trade!! I learned the home improvement industry and have been in the industry since 2006!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We have installed roofs for Habitat for Humanity and we have installed roofs for people in the Hollywood Film Industry. We only work in the residential area. We do not install commercial roofing systems.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We installed a Low Slope Roofing System recently. We made a really bad mistake. The screws that we are supposed to use on these new TPO Roofing jobs are Very long. The old roofs usually have Torch Down material, which is rolled on and use a very hot flame to adhere the material in place. Needless to say, the new screws were too long, and went into the customers home. It was a terrible mistake. Why I'm proud of this job, is how my crew acted after the mistake. We essentially provided the customer with a brand new ceiling. New paint, sanding and carpentry work. This kind of thing will sink a roofing company if it were to be a common occurrence. But, we learned a lot from this process. We took care of our customer. We have had a lot of conversations and training because of this opportunity. We have nothing but positive reviews, but we aren't 100% mistake free. We now have a goal and we are better now than when that project started.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Great salesman and really flashy presentations do not equal a fair job. Make sure that you are not paying for vacations and companies with multiple owners. And, a cheap roof will act like a cheap roof.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Who will be your main point of contact through this process? I'm an one of the only owner ran companies that is involved from the beginning to the end of all of our jobs.
