Introduction

FINANCING NOW AVAILABLE I have always been OCD about the quality of my work and everyone that works for me knows that every job is to be treated as if it were our own home. One advantage that I have over most other exterior contractors and roofing companies is that I was a custom home framer for 15 years so I'm familiar with home construction from the ground up. We also pride ourselves on communication, so no more calling someone who feels their voicemail is good enough for you. I also have the greatest respect for our military community but unfortunately we don't offer any discounts because I price every single project as low as possible from the beginning. I am asked a lot if we have any discounts for seniors or military personnel but rather than pad a job with extra money to be able to go back later and pretend as though I'm offering a discount, to me just seems dishonest. I price every project as low as possible regardless of age, status, nationality, color, creed, religious belief, it makes no difference because we want each and every customer to know we will do our very best to give you the best possible price we can. I'm personally involved with every project. I will be on the job numerous times and I personally police the grounds when we're finished to make sure the clean up is as pristine as it can be. If you decide to hire me, I guarantee a pristine roof, trim wrap, siding job or new gutters, whatever your construction needs are. The sense of accomplishment of a completed project has always been gratifying but I also enjoy the networking that comes with a new client. Payment for a completed job is the main goal for most, but I've always considered myself a " big picture" kind of guy, so the knowledge that I have access to someone's friends, family members, coworkers, etc. once we've completed another quality project is great. And not just because those people may need work as well, but because I've met so many people over the years that have also offered a service or had something to bring to the table.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
No, every job is unique but I was raised by hard working, blue collar parents so I almost never hear that my pricing is high.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I always like to meet the customer face to face so they get a sense of who we are and always let them know that no deposits or upfront money is required. We figure the pricing of that particular project with no hidden fees or contingencies that pop up later and we just try to really let the customer know that there's nothing hidden about what we do, we are an open book.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Other than staying in the loop with product and installation I'm not big on classes. We do our homework if we do get involved with a new product. But we also encourage our customers not to be guinea pigs when it comes to new products. We've seen so many products come out over the years and within a couple years be discontinued for mold, structural integrity, finish, etc.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Got a job in construction at 15 and just really got good at it and really liked it. And as much as I will always encourage my daughters to go to college, the school setting was difficult for me. The work in school was always very easy for me, I just couldn't handle the 4 walls and the desk.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Every type of customer there is. I pride myself on working in diverse situations with diverse types of people and have been known to help people out who were in a financial bind.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently worked with a contractor on a large million+ dollar home.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
To go with your gut. I always tell people that even if it works against me, listen to that inner voice. I used to pray that God granted me the job but after working with some not so nice people, I changed that prayer to " God, help me to get the jobs that are good for me". Now, I am not a person who trys to use God in my business, I don't put Him out there in the hopes that it will connect me with people but I also don't hide Him. You may be put off by the fact that I mentioned Him at all, but He saved my life so I'll never not speak of His goodness. Either way, there are plenty of jobs and people out there for all of us so I never see the need to be negative or insultive to my fellow tradesmen.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
That if you have ever had a bad experience with a contractor, do your best not to take it out on the next guy. Unfortunately, Hampton roads has a very large construction community and like everything else, there will always be guys that have bad intentions or that just miss the mark. But, the majority of us are fueled by feeding our families while providing yours with a service.
