We offer competitive, transparent pricing and provide a detailed estimate after evaluating your project needs. While we don’t offer discounts, our pricing includes top-quality materials and professional craftsmanship. We also handle permits if needed, and there are no hidden fees.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We start by listening to your ideas and understanding your goals. Next, we schedule a consultation where one of our Project Managers meets with you to review your space, discuss design options, and answer any questions. Once we agree on the details, we provide a comprehensive estimate and timeline. From there, we handle everything—from permits to installation—ensuring excellent communication throughout the project.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Our team has years of hands-on experience in outdoor construction, specializing in fences, decks, and hardscapes. We're licensed Class A contractors in Virginia with a home improvement (HIC) specialty. We stay up to date with industry standards, safety protocols, and the latest materials like Trex and TimberTech composite decking. Additionally, our Project Managers are trained to guide you through the process with expertise and care.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I’ve always enjoyed creating spaces where people can connect and make memories outdoors. I started Bear Construction to combine my passion for craftsmanship with a commitment to making the construction process stress-free for homeowners. Seeing a backyard transformed into a space people love is the most rewarding part of the job.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We’ve worked with a variety of homeowners—families looking for safe fences for kids and pets, homeowners upgrading their outdoor spaces with decks or patios, and clients seeking durable and stylish solutions for their backyards. Whether the project is big or small, we tailor every job to meet the customer’s unique needs.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

One of our favorite recent projects was building a large composite deck for a family that wanted a maintenance-free outdoor living space. We incorporated a custom design with built-in seating and lighting. The project took about two weeks, and the homeowners were thrilled with how it turned out. Now, it’s the perfect spot for them to host barbecues and relax!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for a contractor who communicates clearly, understands your vision, and uses high-quality materials. Check reviews and ask about their process, warranty, and experience with permitting in your area. Remember, the cheapest option isn’t always the best—investing in quality now saves you money and stress later.
