Introduction

I’m owner Jesus Lucero jr and am a 2nd generation roofer. I started my journey to a business owner early on without knowing it. My father worked for a roofing company in Chicagoland area since the early 80’s. My father came to America in search of a better life. And it wasn’t until he landed a job in roofing that It changed his life. You see my dad was a company man from Monday to Friday. But on some Saturdays , he was doing “side jobs”. I looked forward to this saturdays. Dad would come to my door to wake me up saying “hijo , vamos almorzar y a trabajar” (son, let’s eat breakfast and head to work). I would shoot out bed and get ready. Because this meant we were headed to a diner for some steak and eggs. After breakfast it was time to head to jobsite. It was there I got to earn my money. Hauling trash all day till I loaded 25 - 30 squares into the dumpster. In those days, I would earn $80 a day. To me that was a fortune. The drive home is what unknowingly guided me towards business ownership. I would ask my dad how it all worked and how he met the people and who hired him. All these answers would later push me to open my business and have my father by my side to help guide me. I have a passion for roofs as much as some have a passion for cars. I keep up to date with new innovations and am open to learn. We work all our lives to keep a roof over our heads . Hire someone like me who understands what these roofs cost and what we can do to prolong the life to keep the water out and more money in your pocket.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Our pricing reflects what Xactimate says. We only discuss the scope of work required to bring your home to pre loss condition. Xactimate is the industry standard that has fixed pricing. We cannot alter or change those numbers. Retail work, I will break it down line item by line item

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Most our clients have not work a claim before. We educate the client on our process and explain how we can help restore homes.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have spent many hours in training. From The Adjuster Academy of Texas, OSHA 30, NCCR scaffold training, and John Mansville application courses.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

They saying goes the Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. With that said my father has been roofing since 1974. And it’s through him I learned what I know and found my motivation to do this for us. Work for us and make our own dreams come true.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Residential, and commercial customers. Restaurant owners , investors and government municipalities.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We took on a huge home damaged by Hurricane Harvey. The whole interior exterior took us 40 days to complete. We lived in the driveway while we completed the work. We had the homeowners back in their home quickly considering all the damage. During that build we became friends with Mr. G. Unfortunately 4 weeks after we completed he passed away. But he directed the project and left the home for his wife in excellent shape.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

90 percent of contractors out there will do good work. What separates us is the level of care we put in.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

When it’s an insurance claim, interview your contractor and see if they have the skills to walk through the claims process. You want somebody who will be on your side to get you the work that you are owed.
