Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our full roof replacement quotes are priced per square. Additionally we include price information about unforeseen / unanticipated costs should they occur such as damaged wood discovered after the old shingles are removed.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Initially we communicate by phone or text to understand the scope of the project. Next we set an appointment to inspect the roof. A formal quote with inspection pictures included will be provided to the customer within 24-48 hours of the onsite roof inspection. Our quote package also includes information about our warranty, license, insurances, and contract for services. We follow up with the customer within 24-48 hours of providing the formal quote. Once the contract is signed and payment arrangements are made we begin the process of scheduling the project and ordering materials. When the project is completed we meet with the customer to review the completed project. We remain available to answer any questions throughout the process.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Working in roofing material sales, roofing project management with multiple crews and multiple jobs ongoing simultaneously.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Tony started in a big box store servicing contractors. This led to working for one of these roofing contractors in almost every area of the roofing business. After many years working for others, Tony and his family decided to open their own roofing business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Residential, Commercial and Government Entities.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We were called to inspect a roof for a roof replacement. This roof was a very steep roof on a 2-3K square foot home in an established upscale neighborhood. From the street view the roof looked really good. Upon closer inspection we found the roof had been repaired in different phases and on several planes of the roof throughout the years. Some of the shingles looked good from the street but were actually 25 years old. There was a small portion of the roof that was about 10 years old but the rest was considerably older. During the roof replacement process this homeowner's neighbors told her she did not need a roof replacement and that she was being taken advantage of. We had just sent her pictures of the wood decking after the shingles had been removed. These pictures revealed her 1x6 decking boards looked like they had advanced cancer. There were holes and rotten wood in many places. Our customer showed her neighbor these pictures without saying a word. The neighbor at that point said please forward their information to me as I may be needing a roof in the not too distant future.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Don't base your roofing contractor selection on price alone. Consider the following: Is there a way to decrease the cost without sacrificing quality? (Such as using OSB instead of same thickness plywood for decking replacement.) Does the lower price include all required elements / parts of your roofing system that are required by code? (Such as drip edge, ice & water in the valleys and around penetrations, etc.) What type of warranty is being offered for material & workmanship and is there an additional fee for this warranty? A lower cost for a shoddy job will be more expensive in the long run.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What type roofing material do you want on your roof? Asphalt, Metal, etc. Is cost your biggest concern in replacing your roof? If so, an asphalt shingle roof is approximately 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a metal roof. What is the driver for seeking a roof replacement? Do you have a leak? Are the shingles deteriorating to the point they are no longer effective? Do you need gutters to divert the water away from your foundation? Can your roofing contractor take care of your gutter needs at the same time as your roof replacement? Does your roof have adequate ventilation to extend the life of the shingles and to extend the life of your roof’s wood decking? Do you need help with financing your roof replacement?
