What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

The main thing I’d love to get out there is some understanding that this is how we make our living. Which is why most companies have minimums and service fees. Just fuel alone to travel 60 plus miles while hauling tools costs money. I’d love for some of the really small jobs to be down the street, I wouldn’t really make any money, because I’d end up doing them for next to nothing. For me they’re always a ways out, so a service charge is only fair. Fuel is only one small part of the bigger picture expenses. …..

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Doing my best to establish a good line of communication. Focusing on understanding what is being requested. From there staying on the same page and delivering what is requested.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Learning each stage of construction for building homes was a priceless experience. From there more than 15 years of hands on experience from foundations, to framing, roofing, insulation, drywall, painting, flooring, trim, windows and doors and cabinetry.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I studied each tier of carpentry each year of high school. We built a house each year, from piers to shingles, which got donated to families in need.

What types of customers have you worked with?

All types, it’s one of the things that makes this line of work worth it. Meeting the people that make it all possible. All customers are great, as long as you can realize what they want, what they expect, and appreciate their business.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Remodeling veterans bathroom. He was unable to use his bathroom due to being bound to a wheelchair, we fully converted it, to give him full access. It’s nice empowering someone to be able to care for themselves. It took about 4 weeks.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask questions, any and all questions you have. It’s our job to understand and get what you’re looking for, but it’s not always easy.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Once you know exactly what you want. What or how can your ideas be clearly conveyed, giving a pro the best understanding of what you’d like. Because that’s exactly what we strive to achieve an ending result that’s exactly how you pictured it.
