Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
In most insurance claim situations, your total out of pocket expense should be no more than your deductible.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Your insurance company will set the scope and price of your roof replacement. They tell us what quality of product to install, what they want us to do, and what they will pay us to do it. The city inspector makes sure we install your roof up to current roofing codes. You select the colors, product within the range of like kind and quality as established by the insurance company, and the cost is your deductible (unless you do not have Ordinance or law coverage or you have an ACV Policy.) This would be a great time to ask your agent 3 questions.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
1. I started Roofing in 1997 2. I have been a home and business insurance agent since 2002. 3. I teach continuing education to insurance agents. 4. All of my roof inspectors are HAAG Certified. 6. I am a certified installer for Malarkey roofing products and Owens Corning.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
After over 10 years of owning an insurance agency, I became frustrated with the lack of understanding of the claims process among roofing contractors, as well as the general lack of professionalism. I decided to start a roofing company that understands the insurance process. Slade Roofing works to protect the homeowner's needs as well as providing quality roofs that prevent future insurance claims.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We specialize in working with your insurance company to replace your roof. However, we also install and replace roofs for customers who are paying for the roof themselves.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We just completed a roof in Snowflake that took 1 day to complete. Most projects are a 1 day job for us. We have completed a school in 5 days, and an apartment complex in 4 days.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Steps to hiring the right contractor. 1. Find out what product you would like to install. We have a video on testing roofing products. 2. Choose a certified contractor who is certified by your preferred Roofing manufacturer. 3. Check google reviews to find a highly recommended roofer in your area. 4. Verify the roofer's reputation by calling the supply house that stocks the roofing manufacturer you prefer. 5. Ask the supply office if the roofer pays the supply house on time. We actually have a video about how to choose a contractor. Please see our tips on choosing a contractor video on youtube.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
In an insurance claim situation ask your agent the following: 1. Do I have replacement cost coverage for my roof? 2. Do I have ordinance or law coverage? 3. What is my deductible? (if you have 1 and 2 then the deductible should be the total cost of your roof). 4. Ask your insurance agent if they know of a roofer who specializes in insurance claims.
