Introduction

From start to finish our jobs are treated with a level of professionalism that, unfortunately, is not often found in our industry. We make sure to be responsive, attentive and focussed on our customers needs and to make sure that the job we do reflects that. I enjoy being able to work on different projects with different customers all the time and I really enjoy being able to take homes that either have damage or on the edge of having problems and give them new life with a new roof, siding or gutters. Its always amazing to me to see customers faces when they see the before and after pictures of their homes and know that once we leave they will not be having any issues. Giving people peace of mind about the exterior of their most important asset is a lot of fun and it is rewarding.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We try to be competitive with our pricing but pride ourselves on the quality of work we do for our customers. Our goal is to gain customers for life and to do work for them that they don't have to have redone a few years after the job.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When we begin working with a new customer we start by listening to them gaining an understanding of exactly what they are looking for. Next we do the property inspection, complete with measurements, photos and drawings if needed in order to build out a proper estimate. After we send the estimate if it is accepted we get the job scheduled and exceed expectations.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our mission statement here are Bullard Exteriors is Educate, Estimate, Exceed. We train and continue to learn on a daily basis. We are Master Shingle Installer Certified through Certainteed both as a company and individually. Each of our sales reps, office staff and crews get their certifications and do continuing education on a daily basis. Our goal is to learn as much as possible in this changing market so that we can always service our customers to the best of our ability.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started Bullard Exteriors with the idea that if I simply keep my work, deliver great service, and treat people right I could do well. Those items alone have helped set us apart from many of the other contractors that give the industry a bad reputation. I have been working in the construction industry since I was 17 and have always heard about how hard it is to find a contractor to do any of what is mentioned above. That simple idea has helped grow Bullard Exteriors and will continue to for years to come.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We have worked with customers from single family home owners to commercial property owners all the way up to multiple Fortune 500 Companies. We work with anyone and everyone if we offer a product or service that will help them. From residential to commercial roofing, painting and pressure washing we have done it all.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently had the pleasure of working on a beautiful home in Roswell GA where the homeowner had extreme difficulty with getting his insurance to cover the issues with his roof that caused thousands of dollars of interior damage. We were able to step in, get the job completely paid for by the insurance company, complete the work and bring the owners home back to better than prior condition. We replaced the roof with a Lifetime Roofing System, installed new standing seam metal roofing, new gutters, painted the exterior trim, repaired drywall, painted interior rooms and ceilings and refinished a section of water damaged hardwood flooring. Now that the job is compete the owners are able to enjoy the home without worrying about the weather. This job took a total of about 3 weeks from start to finish.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I always advise potential customers to check references and make sure that they know what materials are going to be used on their home. I understand that most people do not know the differences in roofing systems or types of felt underlayment but it is important for the contractor to explain the entire process. To make this process as easy as possible when we provide an estimate, every type of material we use is listed with a description of where it will be used and we provide before, during and after photos of every job. Another thing that we do to try to make the process as easy and transparent as possible is provide a customer web page where our customers can see all of the job photos, estimates, proposals and contracts in one place.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. How soon do you want the job done? Most quality contractors have a bit of a lead time and are not able to start working immediately. There are times that a week opens up and we can fill it with a job quickly but that is generally the exception not the rule. If you call a contractor and they are always able to get to the job immediately I recommend checking references and reviews. 2. What type of job do you want (cheap as possible, done right, Perfection)? There is a big difference between finding the lowest cost provider and the contractor that is going to go through every detail to make sure your job is held to the highest standard. 3. What is your ideal project? We ask this because many of the customers we work with start out with trying to solve a problem rather than get what they really want. Ideal may be out of the price range at the moment but its always worth looking into. There are times where we have done a project to solve a problem for a homeowner only to come back a year later and do something different to get what they truly wanted. It would have been a lot cheaper to start out with exactly what they wanted than to do it twice.
