I would strongly Recommend you search them on the local building department to make sure all the key credentials are in order. (License, Insurance and workers Comp)

They Need to consider the entire project as a whole. Make sure the estimates are detailed in the material being used, warranties, etc. A unfortunate mistake is people choosing a contractor mainly based on price, Most price differences can be found in the details of the estimate or the lack there of.
