Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I charge $300 for up to 1200sqft and then $10/100sqft after that . That’s it. You pay for the size of your home! Ask about public service discounts.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I prefer clients find out who I am and what my business is about through our website and social media accounts. I am always willing to answer any clients questions or concerns! My goal is to educate them about their home so that they can make a confident decision in whether the home is right for them.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a Texas Professional Real Estate Inspector. This is 330 hours of Classroom training, and 40 hours of live inspections. I am also a Certified Professional Inspector through Internachi (NACHI) which is another 120 hours of education. I also hold several other certifications through Internachi which adds several hundred more hours of education.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I built mountain homes in Estes Park, CO. I also love the science that is involved in building a structure.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I work with anyone! However, I reserve the right to cancel an inspection and refund the inspection fee if the client makes unreasonable requests before, during, or after the inspection.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My in-laws have a project house built in 1905. It took me 5 hours to inspect their craftsmen home here in Amarillo. It was so cool to see all the history and different styles of building from back then.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
You get what you pay for! I charge more than other home inspectors, but I guarantee you no one will do a better job inspecting your future home than me. Besides following the TREC SOP (standard of practice), I take a look at every home with infrared technology.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Understand what the scope of the work is. If you are unsure if an item is included in the home inspection, ask your inspector. The SOP is the minimum requirements for home inspections. I am always willing to go beyond the SOP for my clients as long as it’s within my training and certifications.
