Introduction

Appliance 911 is a local, family owned appliance repair and HVAC service. We focus on building customers for life by building relationships with our customers by being honest and dependable. Our owners and leaders believe with success comes responsibility to your community. So we donate resources and our time to being board members at a local inter city trade school mentoring students. As well as being involved in a local non for profit called Camp Encourage which is for amazing kiddos with Autism to provide a safe and positive summer camp here in Kansas City. We have the lowest service call in the city and it is free if you end up doing the repair! Our technicians are trained in-house and are the best in the city! We service all major household appliances and brands, including refrigerators, ice makers, garbage disposals, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens/stoves, air conditioners and furnaces.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We have very transparent upfront pricing using The National Blue Book for the Appliance Repair Industry. Endorsed by the biggest non for profit agency in our industry. United Appliance Repair Servicers Association. Flat Rate Pricing not by the hour where you could be charged more for having a slower technician.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Great Question, So from the start we have spent years and resources making it the easiest and stress free experience possible. You will be able to interact with our office and technician on one platform via text message, email, or by phone on our software HouseCall Pro. Electronic invoicing, courtesy messages on our way. Everything with you the customer in mind

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Justin my husband the other owner, grew up around this work, being a third generation appliance repairman. It’s in his blood. 3 generations in this industry, with over 30 family members across the United States that own or operate an appliance repair company. My grandfather Paul Haynes was working on appliances back when GM was building appliances before they exclusively building automobiles

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We have worked with every type of customer there is. The one thing I have learned about appliance repair its one of the few industries where everyone you know is a potential customer. At one point while we were growing the company I joked with my wife. Every time you meet a new girlfriend I ended up doing work for them, usually for nearly free lol

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We are fond of the jobs in which we can be there to truly help someone who needs it. We repaired an air conditioner for a senior couple who really needed to be in a cool home. When we can help with a refrigerator for a family, it makes us feel so good to be able to be there for them in a time of need.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Check reviews. Ask friends whom they recommend. And be sure to check that they offer a good warranty and stand behind their work!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is the cost to replace the product entirely with a new one. Being informed on the cost of these new appliances can help you get a better picture of is it worth it. I usually tell customers if its 60 percent or less of a new product then it may be a good investment dependent upon condition of course. The cost of new appliances have skyrocketed like cars since covid and we also have an entire manufacturing industry that lacked oversight and quality control for nearly two years due to covid the new appliances being sold right now that were manufactured the last two years and have been sitting are the most problematic I've seen in my career. There is so many class action lawsuits involving appliance manufactures right now
