Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania

Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania ('LASP') is a non-profit Pennsylvania corporation committed to deliveringhigh quality civil legal services to low income people, victims of domestic abuse and the elderly living in Bucks, Montgomery, Chester and Delaware Counties. LASP provides legal services typically in the areas of landlord/tenant disputes, public housing, utilities, consumer problems including foreclosures and sheriffs'' sales, bankruptcy, denial or termination of government benefits such as welfare, Social Security and unemployment compensation, protection from abuse, custody, child dependency, divorce, license suspension (not in all counties) and elder law issues. While most of these kinds of cases are handled in all locations, there are currently some differences between counties in the kinds of services provided. The services rendered in these areas can consist of information and advice, drafting of legal documents, negotiation and representation in administrative and judicial proceedings. LASP also engages in community legal education through the compilation and distribution of brochures and other written materials on a wide variety of civil legal issues and talks and presentation to client and social service staff groups.
