Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The initial $75 covers the cost of sending off your soil sample and fee, which I collect during the first assessment. You'll receive a copy of the analysis once it's completed. This analysis is vital for determining the precise hydro-mix needed for your specific soil. Whether you choose our services or another provider, a soil analysis is essential. Each lawn project is unique, and various factors can influence the cost. This is especially true for residential projects, where homeowners typically have higher expectations compared to commercial or government clients. As a result, there isn't a one-size-fits-all price for these projects.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
1. Initial Assessment: I visit the site to evaluate the area and offer my recommendations. 2. Measurements and Soil Sample: I take precise measurements and collect a soil sample for analysis. 3. Detailed Quote: Within 24-48 hours, I provide a detailed quote based on the assessment and soil analysis.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am certified by the SCDOT as a Certified Erosion Preventive & Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSI). Additionally, I hold certifications with Richland and Lexington Counties, as well as with the City of Columbia, where I perform hydroseeding for the wastewater management department. I'm also a Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
After discovering the field, I spent a year studying it and identified an opportunity for residential hydroseeding in South Carolina. Leveraging my extensive landscaping knowledge, I decided to offer hydroseeding as a superior alternative to sod for customers.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Residential, Commercial & Government

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I truly love and enjoy what I do, so it's hard to single out just one job. Each project brings its own unique challenges and rewards. I've had jobs that took just an hour to complete, and others that extended over a week. One of my most significant projects covered an impressive 5 acres.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
If a provider doesn't mention collecting a soil sample, it's a red flag. Run away! They should also be willing to explain the analysis results once it's returned. How can you grow a healthy lawn without knowing what's happening with the soil? The soil is the foundation of grass health; it's where nutrients feed the roots, which in turn nourish the grass blades.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. Are you willing to water the lawn 3-4 times a day for 10-15 minutes per cycle? 2. Have you considered the specific area you want seeded? 3. Does your seeding area receive at least 5 hours of sunlight daily? 4. If you're removing trees, have you arranged for the tree removal service to take away the chips? 5. Most importantly, are you committed to having the job done correctly?
