Introduction

Hi, my name is Jim. I am a US Marine Corps veteran. I've worked in the corporate retail world for the last 22 years, and finally decided it's time to create a legacy for my children out of something I love doing. You won't be disappointed. Working hard, punctuality and attention to detail are something I strive for every day. Creating beautiful lawns in Central PA making a legacy for my daughters. My father joins me sometimes as has 50 years experience in the paving business. We do Maintenace mowing/weeding/ shrub trimming, as well as one-time projects. We can also do seal coat for medium to small driveways.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We price based on each specific job. We look at property size, type of job, amount of work needed, and if it's an initial cleanup or recurring maintenance. We don't have a blanket price for every job. We want each customer to feel like they're getting the best pricing for their specific needs.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Communication right off the bat. We visit the client property, see exactly what they need and explain how I can help. We also discuss if there's a project that might be out of my scope, and who else would be a good fit to complete that project. We don't want a customer feeling like they didn't get what they paid for, so if something is out of our scope of work, we're honest and tell them that.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
My training is every weekend and evening for 6 years working on our own property. Either mowing, line trimming, cutting trees, trimming hedges, weeding, seeding etc.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
We have about 2 acres of property that needs constant maintenance. After my long, hectic work weeks, I would only want to be in my yard clearing my head while I cleaned up the property. I just started to love it. So I decided to create my own happiness, and with my wife's approval, quit my job to start this company. I'm happy working for myself and knowing I'm making others happy in the process.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Every kind of customer. One time job, recurring accounts, picky customers, not-so-picky customers, creative customers and ones who want to just let us do our thing.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently helped transform the front of a home by removing huge trees, bushes, trimming hedges, and creating a whole new curb appeal. A few weeks later, the customer called us back to help transform the back yard. We put in a fire pit sand area, edging around a pool, and large 10" pavers to section off 4 separate areas in their back yard. When customers are happy, they'll return to you and we always aim for 100% satisfaction. We check in with every customer when the job is done to be sure they're satisfied and address any areas that I may have missed or that needs to be tweaked.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask tons of questions. Know exactly what you'll be paying for up front. Some of these corporate lawn companies bait you in with a ridiculously low price and then switch it after you have no choice but to pay it. We're clear from the get-go. You know what you'll be paying before any work is started.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
How much is my budget? What is my end goal? Will I need to be on site for the project?
