What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My proposals are all itemized with all values given to each, labor and materials. Any discount will show at the bottom of the sheet.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My first initial visit is to discuss the project, also get all the information from the homeowners, then I go do my homework and present the homeowner with a package under a proposal. Once agreed to; a signed contract agreement and a deposit will become imminent.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I started learning this business when I worked for a builder in 1984 for a few years, than moved on to a wood shop and learned all about cabinets and millwork. Right after that, I started to sub contract work from builders providing cabinets and installation, also granite and fixtures...to the present with a Class A License from the state of VA for a Home Improvement Company. A 5 stars company as of now.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Working for a builder, also cabinet maker and millwork companies.

What types of customers have you worked with?

All my customers have my full attention.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

In great falls VA, I just finished a Masterbath, Hall Bath and Jack and Jill on the main level, also a closet organizer for the master bedroom, all redo with new framing adjustments through a blue print from an architect, also in the basement, I have added another full bathroom, created an office also a bedroom with flooring work throughout, a $225,000. job that took about 4 months.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My advice to homeowners is to have all the information related to the project ready for discussion, also minimize proposals/ estimates to only 2. Getting 3 or 4 and maybe 5 does not help in the decision making, it is more confusing than helping.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

It is important that homeowners feel great about the contractor they hire, and all it takes is an interview or a site visit to discuss the project. Once that has been established; the job will progress much smoother without any hiccups, than you would know you have asked all the important questions.
