Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Remodeling comes with unknowns, your contractor may give you a price for $10,000 to remodel a bathroom but after demo may find bad wiring, a vent in the wrong location or a subfloor that is rotted. Be aware that invoices should be accurate but there are unknowns that can cost more… always set aside an extra 20% as a cushion and hopefully you don’t have to touch it.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First step is to meet and get a rough idea of your dream, take this information and create a quick estimate of cost as soon as possible. If three home owner is happy with the rough number we’re spend a few hours getting into every small detail of that dream possible, colors, patterns, directions, ect. Create a design and a detailed estimate to give the most accurate idea of the time and cost of the project. After this we get a deposit from the home owner to purchase all materials for the project ahead of time, build a full schedule, plan a start date, sign a contract and begin the work.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
My education has been on the job training for over two decades and learning from other skilled professions.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I’ve been in the trades since I was 12, my first skill was sanding and refinishing hardwood floors.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We have helped home owners renovate something they have just moved into, others are expanding their family, some would rather update their home than have to sell and bit something else. Every story is different, every remodel is an adventure.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A bathroom remodel in Heber, built a walk in curbless shower, beautiful tile work

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Check for licensing, general liability insurance, call the references, get a detailed scooped of work before starting the project with an estimated schedule and plan, try to make as many detailed decisions before you start your project.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before meeting a contractor at your home make a list of all the things you’d like done, same photos on Pinterest or Google to show the contractor so you make sure the contractor understands your vision. Are you ready to have your home under construction for weeks or months? Noise, dust, inconveniences, lack of use to part of your home? Do you plan to be home while work is being done or do you trust your contractor to be in your home alone? The cost of remodeling can be expensive and can come with surprises. A bathroom remodel can be $10,000 - $20,000, a kitchen remodel can be $25,000 - $75,000.
