Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Interior design projects can be very different from client to client, therefore I have a number of prices depending on the client's needs. I do have a set consultation fee that is $150.00. I will meet with the client, walk the area or space, and give them a written list of recommendations. If you’re further interested, you can hire me to then create a design plan that includes mood boards and floorplans/renderings. Some clients then choose to do the work themselves and others hire me to do the decorating for them!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Stage 1: Consultation $150.00 Everything starts with the consultation. Consultations are $150.00 and include a walk thru, evaluation, and written report of recommendations. You may then choose to complete list of recommendations themselves or to have RCI complete the next stage. Stage 2: Room Design Plan Floorplan: $200.00 Mood Board: $300.00 Client may add additional rooms for $100.00. RCI will create a design plan for your room including a 3D floorplan/rendering. A completed mood board of elements and color recommendations will also be included. Client may then choose to take RCI’s room design plan and execute the plan themselves or have RCI complete the work (see below). Stage 3: Complete Room Design $100/hour Once room design has been approved and agreed upon and a budget has been established, RCI will select all pieces (furniture, rugs, artwork, linens, etc.) and upon approval will purchase on your behalf. RCI will also coordinate any construction or handyman services necessary and will then set everything up for you-- you’ll be ready for the big reveal!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Interior Design Institution.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started decorating and organizing my friend's homes. They liked what I was doing in my house and asked me to help them with their homes. Once my kids started to head off to college, I decided to do an online school for Interior Design and I loved it! When I graduated, I took an extra course on Staging.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with a range of clients from housewives, married couples, realtors, pastors, dentists, and CEOs. I enjoy working with all my clients!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
There are two words of wisdom I would give... one, meet your designer and see if you click. If you don't click by the end of your initial visit, you might not be compatible. You'll know. Design is a very personal job and the designer wants to please, so that leads me to my other word of wisdom... be honest! If you don't like something we want to know. It may take a time or two to get it right, but that's ok, just be honest.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I think it's helpful when the client has thought about budget, even though it might change once they meet with a designer. I also think it is of great value for the client to have a idea of what their style might be for that space. I recommend to my clients who aren't sure, to look at different types of decorating magazines or at Pinterest. Most times that will be part of my first visit. As the client marks the things they like I begin to see a pattern of style. If the client narrows that down, it helps the designer start quicker.
