Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
With close to 20 yrs working in the industry with different companies. I have compile the resources of big companies without the overhead of a big company. So prices are very competitive.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
After initial contact I like to set an appointment to walk the space. And figure out the best way to approach it. We'll discuss color scheme, set up a wish list of things that the client looks for and maybe talk about a preliminary budget. The next couple of days is where I do my research and design process. I will take it on myself to find the right finishes and procure samples. Do a 3D rendering of the space to provide a visual road map for the project. And complete a preliminary bid or proposal. Second meeting we go over design, and tweak as needed using the home owners input and finalize the final bid.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
20 years of experience and some interior design education.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
As a part time after my military service, trying to pay for my criminal justice education and I felt in love with the whole construction industry. Especially the final finishes, putting the final touches in a house, takes it from a house to a home.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
With all types and all ethnic backgrounds. I love it. I love talking to people from all walks of life after redefining living spaces interacting with people is my second favorite thing.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
There was one a few years ago. The clients had a few estimates and designs over a 5 year span. And not one company was able to come up with a design idea that the wife just love. After our initial interview where I took the measurements and a brief conversation of what the wife was looking for. I told th to meet me at the office three days later. I had the design and all samples of the finishes. She just fell in love with the whole design and color scheme. Her husband looked at me and said, you are the first one that has listen to my wife. Let me sign the contract before she changes her mind. The was one of the most rewarding projects, I made a sale and came out with New friends at the end. I had my son born a week into the project. And they gave him gifts.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Don't pay everything up front. Give contractors a reason to come back.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Color scheme is big one. At the end on the day no one cares how long will the tile last or what is made off, but how it looks with my new cabinets and the paint color that I want to use. We are really in the fashion industry is all about looks at the end of the day.
