What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge $150.00 to come and see and advise on a project. Should the customer wish to proceed I then design via computer a new floor plan with changes and estimated costs for doing the project. I will get several estimates from contractors to do the project. My charge for that is $2,500

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My process for working with a new customer is to listen to their needs put their needs and ideas down on paper and then perform the renovation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

buying, renovating and selling homes for over 35 years.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I got my start by selling homes as a real estate agent. Occasionally, when I realized a good buy I would purchase the property, renovate it and then resell it.

What types of customers have you worked with?

customers for kitchens, bathrooms, renovations, additions, landscape design and install.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Full Kitchen remodel. Took 10 weeks. Turned out beautifully. photos to follow...later in Feb..

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Find someone that you have a comfort level with. You'll be working with them for the better part of a year if it's a substantial renovation. Get receipts for all materials. Enjoy the relationship. Make it work.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Write down everything you wish to accomplish and number it. Take a look at it every couple of days and feel free to edit. I'd continue to take notes for about 2 months. Then contact professionals. Your ability to communicate your needs will will be greatly enhanced with this list...
