Introduction

We are pleased to share our New Jersey business licenses with you: New Home Builder Reg. #052073 Home Improvement Contractor Lic. #13VH01833500 We pride ourselves on excellant customer service. We keep our client informed of the progress being made every step of the way. Our clients can reach us whenever they have questions or comments concerning their job. Daily inspections of the job are made and if anything needs addressing, it is done on the spot. The job site is kept clean and the neighbors are not inconvenienced. I enjoy personal contact with customers. I like to develop a relationship with my customers that will allow them to feel comfortable not only with me, but my crews as well. Solving people's problems and servicing their needs are my top priorties. In addition to having a Home Improvement Contractor license, I also have a NJ New Home Builders License, #052073. This allows me to do new home construction as well as modular home construction. We can build a new home on the customer's lot or we can assist them in finding a suitable building lot. In this very difficult time, we are well aware that your health and ours should be a primary concern. We follow CDC guidelines by wearing masks, social distancing, and conducting phone conferences as needed. By doing this, we hope to service you safely and still make your ideas come to life. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My system is not complicated - labor costs, material cost, and management cost. One thing to remember is that every job is unique and must be priced accordingly. Even a simple roof is different from the neighbor because of material selection and style. While the pricing system is the same, the job is not.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First of all is the general phone contact to introduce myself and obtain an idea of the scope of the job. Secondly, we set an appointment to see the job site and meet face to face. The first meeting is very important to set a working relationship with the customer. Once the customer is comfortable, I begin taking measurments to start to develop a quote. A rough draft is generally emailed to the customer for approval. Once approved, a contract is drawn, signed and work is started.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I attend workshops and seminars introducing new products and techniques. In this field, education never stops because the industry never stops introducing new materials and techniques which I can share with my customers.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got tired of working for a national firm as a tech rep even though I earned the highest salary in my class at Fordham University School of business. I preferred dealing one on one with the decision maker and solving their problems directly rather than going through middle men in the large corporation. My Dad started this business in 1940 as a roofing and siding business. This seemed a natural for me. I continued to develop what he started and today we do all phases of home building from permitting to finish!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Alterations and additions- from project design to permitting to material ordering and finishing are our specialties. We have added second floors to ranchers and extended the back of houses to enlarge the 1st floor. Project managing also includes keeping the customer informed while bringing project from start to completion.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I constructed a 2 story addition including a direct vent fireplace, hardwood floors, panaled doors, custom shelving, rain water control system, master suite with tile floored bath and installed a new heating and cooling system for the whole addition. This took approximately 2 months.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Be up front with contractor; tell him what your expectations and budgets are. Share your ideas-it's your home and you should not hesitate telling the contractor what you expect from him. Budgets are important. It saves everyone time to state the budget up front and have the job taylored to it rather than having to re-do the plans after they have been drawn.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The first question should be how much experience do they have and how long have they been in the business? I am a professional with 45+ years of experience worthy of their respect and payment. Secondly, are they licensed in the state where the work is to be done. My license is listed both on Thumbtack and on my web site . Thirdly, always ask for references.
