Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our pricing is competitive and fair. We are not the cheapest or the most expensive. We always provide a detailed estimate in writing.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
With most companies that are equipped and capable of handling larger projects you typically deal with a receptionist, a sales person, and then passed off to the project manager. At Kennedy Property Development you are dealing with the owner (myself) Rashad from initial phone call to final inspection. This typically starts with a phone call to get a better understanding of your project, setting up an appointment, viewing the scope of work at the property and then delivery a written estimate all within a timely matter. If we move forward on the project we put the details in writing. Such as scope of work, work schedule, pay schedule etc.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Kennedy Property Development is Licensed, Bonded and Insured with the Minnesota Department of Labor as a Residential Building Contractor (aka general contractor) and we are also EPA Lead Certified.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was originally introduced to the construction industry when jumping into real estate investing, buying rental properties and "flipping houses" I quickly discovered how difficult it was to find a quality, dependable and affordable company to take on large renovation projects. So I made the decision to build a team of my own, creating Kennedy Property Development.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We typically work with customers that have projects that are best suited for a crew of 3-4 contractors. For example a full kitchen remodel which would include a carpentar, tile contractor, plumber and electrician. Another example would be a basement which would include all mechanical trades (electrical, plumbing, hvac) framers, drywall crew, painters, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A recent project that sticks out the most would be a full kitchen and bath remodel that we completed for a landlord in Saint Paul. After he completed the renovation he was able to increase the rent by $400 per month and also provided a quality rental property to a family.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
1. Ask if they are licensed or registered with the Minnesota Department of Labor 2. Ask for general liability and workman’s comp information 4. Ask to see current or past projects 5. Speak to references 6. Go with your gut 7. You get what you pay for so to be careful not to pick a contractor just because he or she is the lowest bid but to consider all other factors when making a decision

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before talking to professionals customers should think through the desired materials and price point of materials. Cost of materials on certain products can vary by a lot. You can spend $100 on a shower head or $1000. A written scope of work is always ideal before meeting with contractors.
