Introduction

WE DON'T DO FAST, QUICK or CHEAP because we do it right… However, we are quite proficient which makes us efficient at what we do. As a project comes to a close, It's not about the money! We have true and honest passion for what we do and we always strive to do the very best job possible. We want clients to refer us to their friends and family. We want clients to walk in and be wowed by the transformation and for the client to be proud to say that WalterMade did the job and did the job right. We really love when there is no hesitation by a client of writing that final check because expectations where so far exceeded... and we especially love when Waltermade clients become Waltermade friends.

Q&A

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Interior Architecture and Design degree from Florida State University. I am always challenging myself to learn more details of the different trades. This includes the specialty trades, such as stained glass, and welding.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Unfortunately it was later in life before I recognized I had the creativity and talent for interior design.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I tend to focus mostly on kitchen and Bathroom remodeling. Since I do so many kitchens and bathrooms, I most enjoy installing Tile. I love the rich characteristics that tile has on a space.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Not too long ago, I did a complete renovation on a client, now friend's house. I remodeled the exterior, and both bathrooms. I did work in every room except the kitchen. After doing the rest of the house the client didnt' have the budget to renovate the Kitchen which really needed an overhaul. Since having renovated the rest of the house, I couldn't let that one major part of the house be untouched. So, I offered to do the kitchen free of my labor. I told him that as long as he would cover the materials, the rest would be on me. I painted and antiqued the cabinets as well as adding some minor architectural details throughout. The final transformation amazed even myself considering the budget. I was more than happy with the project. More importantly, so was the client! Whenever I watch those design shows on TV, I think how "almost" anyone can make those radical transformation with the huge budget they have, but it really takes some tallent to pull it off on a dime.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When hiring a service professional, you get what you pay for. You might be quoted half as much, but, they bill you twice as much or they take twice as long because they don't have the tallent or the tools to do the job efficiently or effectively. Shop around and pick one that is in the median range. Whenever possible, check with friends who have had work done. But, when using a referal of a friend you should still get multiple quotes. Not because you don't trust them, but because you want to keep the job in check. From a contractors perspective, for many jobs, quotes are not an exact science, it is somewhat of a guestimate. We don't know exactly how long a job will take, or what is behind every wall so don't get upset if the contractor who was refered to you is a little high. Just let them know you shopped around and have an idea of what the price should be. Better yet, get an idea of what you want to spend and ask if he can work within that budget!!! That is the best kind of client for me... Honest and to the point!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I hate sitting behind a desk. I am an interior designer, not a decorator. My expertise is much broader than just picking out wall colors, fabrics and throw pillows.
