What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing structure is really easy and fair. I'm a big believer in over delivering and making sure that your budget is intact before we even begin. I have a passion for my projects, which means that my clients tend to get more than they pay for. When possible, I like a flat-fee system so that this process is upfront and clear. Sometimes, it makes more sense to do a time-billing/retainer process. These are typically easier to do on larger projects.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First things first, I want to know you and who you are, what you're looking for. I want you to know me, and together we can decide if I'm the right designer for you. This is a crucial step, because we need to trust and commit to each other for our process to work. This is a collaborative process, so things need to be authentic for us to work well. Once we can both agree that this is the right situation for each of us, then we get into what your needs are, how we can best achieve them, and what your project will look like from the design standpoint. First things first, we have to know each other though.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been in the industry since 2014. I have retail, architecture firm (multi-family, commercial, and hospitality design) and boutique (residential, commercial) firm experience. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in 2018. I also teach there part time, so that the young minds can have some professional assistance within their program. I love it!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved design. From "renovating" my bedroom at age 5, I've been partial to making spaces work. As an adult, I was inspired by my world travels and seeing how different people live throughout the world. What makes a home in Geneva? Who lives in Bangkok? What makes people happy in Paris? I love people and their situations. No two people live the same, and that's exciting to me.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all kinds, and I love having a diverse clientele. I've had some projects with special needs that were vital to the success, to some clients that really want some specific things. I've had them all, and love to know how people aren't having success in their spaces, and what I can do to help alleviate issues.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Some projects just never end, and that's okay. I like to consider my clients friends from the beginning, and it is so lovely when we grow our relationship. I have some projects that start out small, and we grow together as time passes. We complete one phase, and a few months later, we're onto something else. I have some projects that are years in the making! I'm fond of every project that I'm involved in, they are all so different!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I want potential clients to feel like they have made the best decision for themselves. Interview as many designers as they need to make the decision before they work with someone. Shop around for your designer, we are all so different and will provide different results. Get to know us before hand, and understand that this is a relationship we're getting into for a period of time. You want to trust the people you're hiring.
