Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
At K Young Remodeling, we pride ourselves on offering highly competitive pricing due to our low overhead, which allows us to pass savings directly to our customers. We also offer a 15% discount to seniors and veterans as a way of giving back to the community. Our pricing is transparent, with no hidden fees, ensuring that you know exactly what you're paying for from the start.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
At K Young Remodeling, we like to keep things simple and transparent. First, we schedule a free consultation—either in person or online—to get a sense of your project. Then, I provide an estimate and a 3D design if needed. Once you're ready, we’ll sign a contract or a design contract. From there, we start shopping for fixtures together to ensure everything fits your vision. We then schedule the work, giving you a tentative timeline that we update weekly to keep you in the loop!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I’ve gained a lot of experience in the remodeling industry since 1996, working in various roles and learning from some great mentors along the way. Their guidance and my hands-on experience have helped me grow, and eventually led me to start my own company, K Young Remodeling. My journey has been all about learning, improving, and delivering quality results for my clients.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I’ve been in the remodeling industry since 1996, starting as a sales/designer, which gave me a strong foundation in understanding customer needs and project planning. From there, I became a cabinet maker and then a draftsman, honing my skills in precision and craftsmanship. After that, I was promoted to installation supervisor, overseeing projects to ensure quality results. In 2007, after over a decade with the same company, I started K Young Cabinetry, which later expanded to K Young Remodeling when I obtained my B2 General Contractor license.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve had the pleasure of working with a wide variety of customers from all age groups and walks of life. One area we're especially proud of is helping seniors with remodels that allow them to age in place comfortably and safely. Whether it's a young family looking to update their home or a senior needing adjustments to maintain their independence, we tailor our work to meet the unique needs of every customer.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One project that holds a special place in my heart was a bathroom remodel I completed for a lovely senior citizen who wanted to stay in the home she had lived in for over 40 years. Her children reached out to me because she was struggling with mobility, and they wanted to ensure she could age in place safely and comfortably. We spent about three weeks transforming her outdated bathroom into a space that was both beautiful and functional. We installed a walk-in shower with a bench and grab bars, lowered the vanity for easier access, and added non-slip flooring to prevent any accidents. We even made sure the lighting was bright and warm to help her see better without straining her eyes. What made this project so special was seeing the joy and relief on her face when she realized she could continue living in her home safely. Knowing that our work helped give her peace of mind and independence made all the difference. It’s projects like these that remind me why I do what I do.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I always recommend finding a contractor who not only has experience but takes the time to understand your needs and vision. Look for someone who is transparent with pricing, communicates clearly, and is willing to work with your timeline and budget. It’s also important to ask about their process—like how they handle schedules, design, and shopping for materials—so you know what to expect. And lastly, find someone who takes pride in their work and values your satisfaction as much as the quality of the job itself. Trust your instincts; it should feel like a partnership, not just a transaction.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Option 1: What’s your budget and timeline? Having a clear idea of how much you’re willing to invest and when you’d like the project completed helps us plan and offer options that fit within your goals. It's important to be realistic about both to ensure smooth progress. Option 2: What are your must-haves and priorities? Before starting any remodeling project, it’s essential to think about the elements that are non-negotiable for you—whether it’s more storage, updated fixtures, or improved accessibility. Knowing your top priorities helps us focus on what’s most important to you. Option 3: What’s your vision for the space? Think about how you want your space to look and feel once the project is complete. Whether you have specific design ideas or need guidance, knowing your style preferences helps us create a space that matches your taste and needs. Option 4: Are you open to exploring different materials and finishes? Sometimes, the best solutions come from considering alternatives. Thinking about whether you’re open to eco-friendly or more budget-conscious materials helps us suggest options that align with your vision and budget.
