Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Each paint project is unique and has its own nuances. Although a general range can be offered, (there is a cheap way and a professional way of doing the job) we strive for customer satisfaction, honesty, and work well with those who take pride in their home. I would advise to use caution if someone uses $0, cannot offer a range of pricing or low balls the cost to gain an in person estimate so they can uses their "sales" skills to steer you into an much more expensive cost.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
1. Talk for a few minutes or message over email/text to get an idea of the project. 2. Set up a time to meet in person and see the scope of the area(s) to be painted, size, what kind of surface, prep work involved, etc.. 4. Find out your expectations of the finished job. 5. Provide a detailed estimate and discuss when the project can be completed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
MBA- Business administration, management. Flipped and remodeled several homes in the area. Local and lived in the area most my life, and established a network of professionals.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Consulted for several contractors improving their business operations, accounting and most importantly customer service. Through that consulting experience, realized that many larger contractors cut corners, use different paint than promised, and "sell" rather than give an honest estimate. Many other individual contractors often lack insurance, effective hiring practices, or use the cheapest materials and techniques. I believe in a right way of doing business and do enjoy working with many people in my home area so why not start my own home services business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Home owners and a few rental home owners.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Although I use skilled, professional subcontractors, one of the most enjoyable jobs was painting a nursery. It was only one room and after meeting with the customer, went ahead and painted the room myself (I do that from time to time). I have a 4 year old daughter and it brought back a lot of good memories.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Can you trust the person and the crew they hired in or at your home. Can you trust that they are giving you the best advice and available options. Can you trust that they will do what they say.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Plan to take a few minutes to get to know your painter/contractor. Where they are from? What they like about their job? What kind of paint to use and why?
