Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Free estimates.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Phone consultation, on-site walk-through, followed by a bid for the job.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
8 years of professional experience. I began working with a crew of professional painters when I was 17.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Family business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Mostly homeowners. I have also worked at country clubs, industrial warehouses, schools, offices, and laboratories.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I repainted three interior bedrooms. The project took 3 days start-to-finish. This project included two coats on walls, ceilings, and baseboards. To prep the walls, I pole sanded with 120 grit paper and caulked seems where previous drywall had begun to crack. I also caulked and patched problematic areas in the baseboard. When prep was complete, I painted two coats on the ceiling and baseboards. Once the baseboards were taped, I cut and rolled two coats on all of the walls with a 9-inch roller. This completed the project.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hire a professional with a track record of quality and have a realistic expectation about your project's timeline.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The number of coats desired. The color and finish of the paint. What combination of walls, ceilings, baseboard, crown-molding, doors, and railings are to be painted.
