What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Our clients should know that PKC Custom Painting will offer fair and competitive pricing. Each project is different and prices vary by each project. Some projects can much more difficult then others. We provide a very detailed and thought out proposal. We don’t hide or slide things in the on the proposal. We also have $0 dollar deposit for every residential painting project. Commercial projects require a 15% - 20% deposit. We don’t charge for estimates either.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Everything starts with that initial phone call, text or email. We start by picking a date and time that works best for you, that allows me to come out and look at your project. You as the client will show me exactly what you want done and what your vision is for the finished the project. I will grab some measurements and then generate you a proposal. I typically have all proposals back same day or next business day. I will typically follow up with you 24-48 hours after the proposal is sent and make sure you don’t have any questions. If you decide to move forward with us, I have you sign and date the proposal and email back to me. Then we will get you on the schedule. We typically try and schedule everyone within a two weeks window from receiving the signed proposal.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been around the painting business for most of my life. I was a GM for another paint company prior to opening my own business. I have years of experience and my guys do as well. I worked for my father’s painting business growing up as well.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I was working as General Manager for another painting company that happen to sell there franchise back the franchise owners. I decided that I have the contacts, the experience and the abilities to start my own business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We cater to everyone that has need for our services. It doesn’t matter if you live in Olentangy, Murfield, Dublin or Lancaster, we treat everyone the same. Doesn’t matter if your home is worth 2 million or 500k, we give both homes the same attention to detail and care that they both deserve.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Just helped a client who thought she would not be able to afford to have everything done. We gave her free estimate and it was just little bit higher than her budget. We sat down talked through some options and was able to get everything done she wanted and made few changes to accommodate her. It was wonderful experience for both parties.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Go with who makes you feel comfortable. Sometimes the cheapest price isn’t always the best option. I tell everyone to get a couple estimates and then decide who fits in your budget and choose who you feel the most confident with. Trust is big part when choosing a contractor.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What do you want done? Do we have budget and if so what is it? Do you do weekend work or evening? If job requires it. How long will my project take? Get colors picked out. Have time frame of when you want to start or have it done by. What kind of paint will you use? Do you fix drywall blemishes, nail pops or cracks? Do you caulk along base and trim?
