What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing is based on the amount of detailed information I have on the project.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First find out what they need. Basic interior painting? Are there any repairs needed to drywall/plaster? Explain the plan to meet their needs and enjoy the process.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

As an Award Winning paint rep for PPG Industries, I received training about paint chemistry and paint problems such as adhesion, chalking, coverage, environmental concerns. Paint Quality Institute - detailed paint training covering a wide range of painting topics. This includes paint pigments, primers, best practices and paint problems. Artist - this really helps with the craft of painting, color consulting and inspiring design ideas. Radford University - BS - Biology

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have been painting since I was in high school. I was lucky to work for really detailed contractors that were doing high quality painting. This also helped pay for college.

What types of customers have you worked with?

My customer base includes mostly residential clients. On occasion I will do professional offices.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

A realtor likes to refer me to her clients getting ready to put their house on the market. I was able to trouble shoot a water problem, repair plaster and paint two rooms and the customer was thrilled with the results.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Having a couple of good references goes a long way. Trust is key in my business. Looking at photos of before and after pictures can say a lot as well.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

If there are several rooms a customer wants painted, make sure to prioritize and do the most important areas first. Paint brand and what to buy. I really like helping customers understand how paint differs and what brands are not just good, but are a good value for their money.
