Introduction

“Let me paint your dreams” is my catch phrase (as well as my web site!) My specialty is working closely with my customers to come up with a composition that works well as a mural or on a canvas capturing a particularly special subject matter or design. Sometimes I am given several examples of their theme or idea and sometimes it starts with literally a simple thought or even a dream they have always wanted to see in color! I will work up sketches first and make changes until we get it right! Nothing in the world is more enjoyable to me than sitting at my easel and creating something totally new!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Each and every project is different depending on variables such as size, subject matter, mediums, style and details. The placement of the mural can also affect the price such as exterior vs. interior, height or difficulty in reaching the wall and use of scaffolding etc.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I begin with a consultation and discuss details of the desired artwork. Should we agree that the project is something we may like to pursue together, we will discuss price and deadlines. A deposit is usually about 1/3 down with two additional payments-one about halfway through and one at completion. (Other payment agreements can be discussed)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have many years of art and painting experience as well as attending a “master class” with Robert Bateman, Canadian wildlife artist as well as private instruction through local “Omaha”, water colorist, Yvonne Eymann. I work closely with local muralist, Richard Harrison and have his support if needed for larger mural projects.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have been painting my entire adult life and continue to love every minute I spend painting.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Private residential and commercial

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently, I have noticed a desire for neutral and monochromatic color schemed murals. My favorite of that style is a tie between a mountain themed nursery, including a pine tree, forest with a lake and the music room splashy guitar mural both painted in grays, blacks and whites. I love the contrast of light and dark to make an impactful statement without a lot of color. Any accent color, then can be used in the room and change as the years go by. Both of these murals took me about 3 days working at the clients home.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would say any custom art piece should begin with a sketch or example of a similar past work by the artist. Also, the artist should respond to all requests with enthusiasm and in a timely manner and keep the client involved in the entire process.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I love when clients have looked at ideas on web sites and compile examples of art styles and a subject matter in advance. It is also a good idea to have the majority of your subject matter or design figured out in advance to prevent pricing increases with multiple changes or additions. Colors are also very important.
