Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Gables and Grove offers competitive pricing for a superior finish and excellent customer service and value. Our clients love knowing they are getting the best possible work at a fair price. We print quotes and bids for you at our very first meeting and we welcome you to shop around for different contractors and painters.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First we begin with a phone call where you and one of us to discuss the details of your project, get an idea for timeline, and schedule an appointment. Our estimate appointments are typically a 30-45 minutes and give us an opportunity to meet you, hear your concerns and questions, and estimate the project.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our teams have been working in the finishing arts (drywall, painting, muraling, wallpaper, micro-cement, epoxy) for over a combined 100 years....easily! We are truly confident that we have the diversity in background, culture, and experience to take on any job that comes our way. Our fathers (who still work with us) are contractors, businessmen, painters, fine artists, and some of the original wall paper hangers. Our teams have received OSHA training as well as specialized training in micro-cement application (in Italy and Miami), epoxy application, and paint spray techniques. We love what we do and want to pass our knowledge and expertise on to you! How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Gables and Grove began as Christian Bernard Gallery Inc in 2010 when two musicians decided painting homes and applying Venetian plaster between their band tours was the best way to keep busy and pay the bills. From there our teams grew and we began playing less music and taking on more jobs. We’ve since become G&G and are now a full-service paint contractor.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We've worked with the broad range of international clientele one would expect here in Miami. Young professionals to old hippies who finally got that mural in their dining room. Ultra-modernists, traditional Gable-ites, Miami Beach faux finishes and everything in between! We love meeting new clients and showing them what we're capable of...and even introducing them to things that they may never have known about. The possibilities for finishing are endless and we want to accompany you on that journey.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

What was originally a 3-week interior and exterior paint turned into a two month job where we refinished a bunch of wood and did a whole lot of add-ons for a special client. The client is a restaurant designer and he demanded only the highest-quality work in his home...which we were thrilled to provide. We completely every additional task that was thrown our way and straightened a great relationship with the client as well as learning about patience, fortitude, and professionalism. Thank you sir (you know who you are!) for the personality-building experience!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask to be educated. Make sure your painter or finisher can provide you with details about the process. Look for a well-written and detailed Project Overview and Quote or Estimate. Ask for insurance and workman compensation. Ask for reviews or photos from past projects and clients.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Do you really need to paint? What kind of damage will your home or business suffer from if not properly coated? Do you have your colors chosen or do you need color consultation? Have you thought about wallpaper, epoxy, micro-cement, or venetian plaster? Would you like to learn more about those? Are they detailed and meticulous? Do they provide well-written documents? Are they generous with their time? Are they insured and do they have workmans comp? Will they treat your home like their own...or better? Will they communicate effectively and often, ensuring open lines of dialogue throughout the timeline of the project? How is their pay schedule—are they asking for too much of a deposit? Or too little—and they come asking for more every day? How experienced are the crews and can they think and pivot on their feet when confronted with unforeseen challenges? Are they courteous at all times? Would your neighbors like them? Do they have great reviews from past customers?
