Introduction

My name is Summer DeSalvo and I am a muralist/artist in Southwest Florida. I paint murals and add life to all areas including homes, businesses, malls, amusement parks, race tracks, restaurants, etc. You name it and I can most likely make it happen. Im also an Alumni from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for Illustration and Design.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

It all depends on location, size, and detail. I usually include cost of supplies into the full amount. Half upfront and half upon completion. All stated in the typed contract signed by both parties.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Ideas, size, detail, price, location, timeline.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Bachelors degree in Illustration and my own Art LLC that I started when I was 24.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I did 9 murals outside of a restaurant in the shopping mall so they contacted wanting me to paint something “sea-like” in their main entertainment attraction spot at the mall.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Malls, restaurants, businesses, personally known friends and family, and outside references.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

The octopus at Mercato shopping center in Naples, FL.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

To always be fair with price to the client and painter. Also to keep in mind that murals are different than a house plan, it won’t always come out as planned.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Consider that painting is a job people make a living on and it will always be priced fair because we are using creativity which takes energy and a strong thought process to try and understand your exact needs.
