Introduction

My name is John “Jack” Finnegan. Most of my work entails handyman/construction projects but I also work as a personal trainer. In regards to construction, I have been in the industry for 15 years. I gained most of my experience building and remodeling high end homes as a carpenter in Connecticut. I am knowledgeable in all phases of home building. I currently own my own handyman business called Clover Building Company here in Los Angeles. I am partnered with several small businesses and restaurants throughout the Los Angeles county. My work extends from San Fernando Valley, throughout Los Angeles, Long Beach and parts of Orange County. I take great pride in quality work and building a trustworthy relationship with my customer base. I do not cut corners and always put forth my best work. I am able to do just about anything when it comes to building and repairs. And yes I have all the tools and a pick up truck needed to get the job done. There is no job too big or too small for CBC to handle!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The pricing I have listed on this app is not completely accurate. Depending on the size of the project I work by either a 2-hour minimum or a full day rate. My 2-hour minimum ranges from $65-$80/hour and my day rate is $550/day (8 hour day).

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Depending on the size of the project, I like to perform in person walkthroughs of the project to get an idea of what exactly needs to be done. I take some time to create a rough estimate of what I think the project will cost. If the customer likes the estimate I either have plans drawn or create a proposal of what will be done and a more accurate number of what the project will cost. After the pre construction phase the project begins in a timely fashion. I complete the project in its entirety all the while keeping in mind the customer’s needs and vision in order to create a long lasting high quality product leaving the customer happy.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I spent years working for a general contractor as a carpenter learning all the phases of home building. I understand all phases of home building and aspire to build and remodel homes out here in Southern California. I also have a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration of entrepreneurship.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started in the construction industry 15 years ago working for a contractor in Connecticut building homes and commercial buildings as a carpenter. I brought my knowledge and skill set out here to Los Angeles and started my own construction business just recently. My business currently performs handyman services and soon to be a general contracting company.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with a plethora of customers ranging from home owners, restaurant owners, small business owners, renters, real estate agents, and more! Feel free to check out my website to get a better idea of my business and my current partnerships.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently did a studio renovation for a longtime customer. The goal of the project was to split the current studio in half and soundproof the two rooms as well as possible. We used a specific framing technique to achieve this goal. The customer was very happy with the final product allowing little to no noise to pass through the rooms. A very cool project that we completed quickly, efficiently and on time!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Be sure to do your research when you hire a professional. Trust goes a long way in this industry and having someone you can trust takes so much stress off your shoulders. Word of mouth works great!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
How much they are willing to spend and what exactly they are thinking about doing. Sometimes a customer’s vision involves more work than they realize. It is important to understand the different phases involved but that is why a professional like myself is happy to guide you through the process.
