What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We are new to Thumbtack, but not new to service. We do what we say, and stand behind what we do. We treat every customer as if they were a life time customer. We are a multifaced business (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Water Systems) that has been serving the Texas Hill Country for 50 years. We are a one stop shop for most of your home service needs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

We have a long list of credentials. We are licensed in all of our departments, and insured. We conduct in house training many times throughout the year to keep our departments sharp. As for on the job experience, we’ve been servicing the Texas Hill Country for 50 years where we’ve accumulated over 10,000 happy customers.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Construction has always been part of the D'Spain way. We were just born this way. We got started as a small shop here in Bandera, TX. Servicing HVAC systems and selling appliances and plumbing parts. We later added electrical services, water well division, and later a plumbing division. It has been slow incremental growth over the past 50 years. We've now grown that small business now into a thriving midsize business with now 40 employees.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We work with all types of customers. Home owners, business owners, ranches, municipalities, and multifamily dwellings. Our service experience creates sticky customers that come to us for all of there service needs. We strive to keep you as a lifetime customer and handle all of your HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Water Well needs. Customers enjoy just having to deal with one company for all of these needs.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

One of the coolest projects we've recently done was a 2,200 SQFT Treehouse right here in Bandera, TX. This was done by Nelson Tree House Company, also known for their television series "Treehouse Masters." The project took about 6 months to complete from start to finish. We handled both the HVAC with Mitsubishi Ductless Systems, and also got the plumbing contract. Very unique and cool project.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Not all service companies are created equal. Honestly and Quality come with a price. We strive to be as competitive as we can and still maintain a profit to keep the doors open. We will most likely not be the cheapest company to deal with, but we are not the highest either. We tend to be right there in the middle with our costing, but at the top of the charts with the quality of workmanship and products we provide. You repair or installation is sure to last with us. You will not have any service nightmares here.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Begin with the end in mind. Think about what the ideal end product should look like, and understand there may be some differences of what you want done, and what realistically be done. You create the destination as to where we are going, our professionals can then evaluate and let you know how we can get there. Also understand that if you talk to 5 professionals, you may also have 5 different ways to handle the same problem. You must then decide what would be the best approach given you needs, budget, and warranty down the road. We typically give options for an immediate fix (fix the direct problem), a better solution (fix what may have caused the initial problem), and a best solution that will take care of the direct issue, prevent it from happening again, and stomp out any future issues that way may see coming down the road). We understand that budgets can be tight, and sometimes we just need to get by. We put you in control of how you want this to be handled. We will just advise you on the cost / benefit analysis.
