Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We don’t have a service call fee to provide estimates during normal business hours. Our pricing is straight forward. We rely on our expert technicians to evaluate every unique situation and give an estimate for the work needed. Every one of our customers pays the same amount for any given service, meaning no matter what part of town you’re in, you pay what everybody else pays.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Our process is coming out to the customers home and determining exactly what the issues are and what work it will take to get the issue resolved. Because of the many different causes for the various issues that can present themselves on a garage door system, it is extremely difficult to quote a price over the phone, which is why we don’t have a service call fee during normal business hours!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our technicians undergo extensive training prior to joining our team at ProLift. Our training is not only on the technical side, but also about how to treat the customer right. The process lasts 6 weeks or longer, where they study our own employee handbook, training videos from multiple resources, tests, virtual reality, and most importantly ride-alongs with our most experienced technicians for over a month.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My background is actually in engineering, working for 10 years with NASA, and then in oil & gas. I seized the opportunity to run my own company when I realized that at ProLift, we could serve our customers better than most of the competition, providing them free service calls and better warranties that we'll be here to stand behind for many years to come.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Almost all of our customers have been residential home owners who need a repair done quickly and correctly. We also service several property management companies, whose homes they manage need repairs done right the first time.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Here is a recent review we're proud of, left by David G. on our Google profile: ProLift Garage Doors David & Tommy with ProLift came out to do a quote for us. We originally had a different company come out and that went so very terribly that we were left with significant reservations about having another company. These guys are extremely professional and knowledgeable. They gave us information, answered our questions, walked us through the pros and cons of all the different options, and even helped us save some money by explaining the technology we already have. I’m 100% recommending ProLift to anyone I find who needs garage door motors. The install took about an hour, and they did a great job. They even walked us through the entire process to make sure we were completely satisfied before they left. Spoiler alert: we are very pleased.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
One piece of advice when hiring a garage door professional; we are not required to carry licenses in our field, so anyone can claim to be a garage door tech. Doing your research into the company you choose is key to getting a quality tech. The cheapest is not always the best. Parts and technicians are not all created equal. We pride ourselves on our technicians 10 year experience and the quality products we offer and use for repair. Bottom line, do your due diligence to avoid being taken advantage of.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I always recommend people look through recent reviews before hiring a company. Some questions I would suggest they ask themselves or the service company are: Is this company reliable? Do they charge anything to just come out and look at the problem? Do they communicate well, before and during the appointment? Will they get the job done Right so I don't have to keep bothering with it? Will they be around to stand behind their warranty? Is labor included in their warranty?
