Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our Trip Charge/ Diagnostic Fee is only $89 and is waived when you have a repair or replacement done.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
You will always speak to a live person that will work with your schedule and find a time that works best for us to send you an HVAC Nerd.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
All of our technicians and installers are EPA certified, factory trained and certified, and go through ongoing training to stay up to date with the latest industry advancements. We are Nerds and love what we get to do!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Back in 2001 after serving in the United States Marine Corps, Jason started in HVAC. Serving our community and problem solving has been his passion since then and starting Home Service Nerds with his family was a dream come true. Brothers Brad (with over 12 years in HVAC), and Bryan (with over over 20 years in construction and home building) bring their own passion for serving our community and problem solving. Shannon brings over 10 years of customer service experience and will most likely be the friendly voice you hear when you call the office. Shannon is a "people person" who loves to help and encourage everyone around her and is a stickler on getting the details right for our clients. Our mission in the Upstate is to bring a refreshing Home Service experience with honesty and integrity and to educate our clients with options so they can make the best decision for their family's home comfort, health, and safety.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We are a Residential company and work with all homeowners across Upstate South Carolina.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We specialize in replacing old inefficient HVAC systems and take immense pride in our work. We recently replaced a 20 year old Gas system and installed a new Dual Fuel system utilizing both Gas and Heat Pump. This system uses the electric Heat Pump for heat during the mild temperatures and then switches to Gas during the colder temperatures getting the best efficiency and warm gas heat when it gets cold. Installing a new HVAC system usually takes about one day.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Please take the time to make sure your contractor is Licensed, Bonded, and Insured. HVAC work can be very dangerous as we work on Gas, High Voltage Electricity, Water/ Condensate removal, Refrigeration, and many other technical aspects in your home. Unfortunately, we see a lot of scary things when we inspect HVAC systems installed by unlicensed and improperly trained contractors in the Upstate. Moreover, if your system isn't properly installed or repaired you will not get its full life expectancy and usually much less.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Am I hiring a company that has a good standing on Google and other review sites? Is this contractor Licensed, Insured, and Bonded? Is this a locally owned and operated company or a big national company that doesn't really care about anything but their bottom dollar?
