Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Atticman Is Home Of The No Charge Diagnostic! We have straight forward pricing and will always remain competitive in the marketplace.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We start the process by reaching out to The Atticman regarding the services you require. For service calls or tune ups, we charge $45 and of course estimates are always free. Next, we will schedule a day and time to stop by and begin working on a solution. Service Calls: Once the problem is found, we will provide you with a clear and accurate price to resolve the issue. The $45 service call charge can be applied toward the repair cost. Free Estimates: Once we have surveyed your home for your new HVAC system or possibly new Insulation, we will provide you with an accurate and detailed quote to have the work performed. If you want to move forward we will get you on the schedule and complete the work! If you are looking to gain multiple estimates we will leave our estimate with you for comparison.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We have a local business license and are EPA certified with a contractors license. The owner, Mario, is also a certified HERS (Home Energy Rating Specialist) Rater in California.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
The owner Mario had his first job at 15 and a half years old with a local HVAC company. He has been in the field ever since and still loves crawling around dirty attics on a daily basis!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We work mainly with homeowners and light commercial shop/business owners. We also work with property management companies, real estate agents and other contractors!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A first time home buyer made the mistake of not hiring a good home inspector and later found out she had major HVAC and rodent issues in the attic! We were able to remove all of her rodent infested insulation and chewed up duct work. From there, we sanitized the entire attic and blew in all new insulation. After replacing her duct work she was so pleased and still had room in the budget, she ended up replacing her old HVAC system with us! In the end, the entire project took a total of four days and she was left with a beautiful, clean and energy efficient attic and HVAC system that will last in her new home for years to come.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Stick with the small guys. Us smaller companies have much lower overhead so you get the benefit of better pricing. Also, you deal with the same few people every time you use them, rather than a big company that may have 40+ employees and techs. Just because a company is bigger does not mean they are better! It just means they sell jobs at a higher price margin. Find a local guy you like and stick with them! We constantly build customer relationships and still perform work to this day for customers we earned when we first started our business.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have an idea of what the goals are of your project and research a few contractors before deciding on one. Just because you are getting bids on the same project does not mean whoever performs the work will do the same quality job of the next guy. There are a lot of shortcuts that can be taken that most homeowners would never notice. Pick the guy that is going to take care of your home like it's their own.
