Introduction

When it comes to getting your roof replaced the most important thing is the workmanship. Based on our experience we've found that regardless of the material, if the roof is not installed correctly it fails much sooner than the projected life expectancy of the shingles themselves. You can have the highest quality shingles in the industry, but if they are installed with poor workmanship the shingles wont last. Here at Pacific Ridge Roofing we put a focus on this industry philosophy. We will always ensure that the shingles will be installed to the manufacturers specifications. This is why as a homeowner it's worthwhile to do your research. Meeting with different roofing companies can be a helpful tool to determine if they are a good fit for you. Then, work with the company that YOU trust. We believe that our eye for detail is what sets us apart from other roofing companies. It's our goal to give every customer the roof they always wanted by not only protecting their home from the elements, but also bringing the visual impact that every roof should have.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
At Pacific Ridge Roofing we offer competitive pricing without sacrificing quality in material or workmanship. We understand that not everyone has the ability to afford a new roof expense all at once. This is why we offer in house financing with a quick and easy application process through our partners at Consolidated Community Credit Union. In our industry the price of materials are ever changing, so to allow us to provide the highest level of customer service each proposal is good for 15 days from the time of the estimate.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The first step in our process at Pacific Ridge Roofing is scheduling a time to conduct a thorough roof inspection gathering information on the home an assessing any potential issues or concerns at that time. From there we use the information obtained to put together a detailed proposal outlining the specifics of the workmanship to be preformed and the materials used. Also included is a Pacific Ridge Roofing good, better, best tier system giving the customer different pricing options to choose from. Once you have chosen the tier you like the proposal gets signed accompanied with a 40% down payment to start the project. Upon project completion we receive the remaining 60% payment. Then you enjoy your beautiful new roof!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Over time there has been so many fond projects its hard to just choose one. The most recent example that comes to mind though was a floating home we did on the gorgeous Columbia river. This particular project sticks out because of the unique challenges it presented working on the water. In order to tear off the existing roof system and dispose of the waste you must coordinate and schedule a floating barge to come in and dock next to the home. Space and proximity to other homes also provides its own set of challenges. It takes lots of communication and skilled workers to overcome those obstacles. It doesn't stop there, because you're working around the water the material that is typically brought in on trucks and dropped on the roof using a conveyor belt or crane can not be done. This means all the material has to be hand carried down the dock and hand loaded to the roofing areas of the home. Once the material is on the roof tight working quarters means paying extra close attention to where you step and safety is key. Additionally, the homes roofing system was comprised of metal and flat PVC requiring multiple skill sets for installation. All in all the project was completed in 10 days. I will say given all those factors combined the sense of accomplishment you get from a project like this is unlike any other. Paired with the beautiful northwest as the back drop to your work day this project definitely stands out.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When looking for a contractor there are some key indicators you should keep an eye out for. Here are a few examples of this. 1. Are they licensed, insured and bonded? If they don't have credentials you're putting yourself at a huge risk for loss. This is an immediate red flag and you should steer clear. 2. What kind of materials do they use? This is important because a good contractor knows using higher quality materials is easier to work with and leads to a higher quality install. The material used says a lot about a company. 3. Are they Better Business Bureau accredited? The reason this is important is because when you are accredited it shows you have been through a background check and verified from a 110 year company who monitors business practices and can be a good indicator of what a company is about. It also keeps records of reviews and grievances reported to the BBB allowing you to see work history issues. If they have nothing to hide they should be accredited.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Here are some good question ideas to ask a potential company you may work with. 1.Are they licensed, insured and bonded? 2.What kind of materials do they use? 3.Are they Better Business Bureau accredited? 4.Do you need plywood? 5.How are they going to properly ventilate your roof? 6.Do you have multiple existing layers on your roof? In the end no question is a stupid question. This is your home and you have the right to know exactly what is being done to it. A good company should always look to educate their customers in anyway and answer all questions or concerns. The best companies are completely transparent throughout the roofing process from start to finish.
