Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
All of my pricing is on my website. Ok, I mainly just want you to see my cool new website :) Prices and skills really are on there though.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
- Make sure I really understand the scope of the job and what the customer wants. - Make sure we are on the same page for scheduling and rate/estimate. - Show up, complete the job. Customer loves me forever :)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a lot of experience from working for my uncle's construction company in Eugene, OR growing up. When I was younger he would give me jobs ranging from painting to pressure washing and landscaping. As I grew up the jobs did too and he would everything from installing toilets to hanging drywall and roofing. I have experience in almost every aspect of home building and maintenance and am very grateful to have had the experience I did. In the very near future I will be a certified General Contractor and Home Inspector.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have a good amount of construction experience in my past as well as a very strong entrepreneurial spirit. When I left my corporate job a couple of years ago, I started doing handyman work for extra income. I quickly realized that there was an opportunity to really build something if I wanted to. A couple of months later I was working full time and am very excited about building my new company HandymanPDX.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with all types of people.I found that it's better for business to not be racist.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A recent one that comes to mind is building a shed for a couple that needed a quick home for three stray cats. They were in a pinch and called me on a Thursday, and I was able to squeeze 10 hours (multiple trips) into my schedule before Saturday to get it done for them. I just adopted two cats myself so I was glad to help :)

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hire someone named Tyler, I hear good things about guys named Tyler.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Outside of a budget I honestly think that most of the question asking is the professionals job. Mainly from the stand point that it is our job to make sure nothing is missed and to take the pressure off the customer.
