What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I offer discounts for seniors, veterans and lower prices for customers within less than 10 miles radius from West Salem. I also offer additional discounts for returning customers and bigger projects. (5% to 15% off labor costs, seniors and veterans discounts starts at 10%)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My wife is the one setting up the date and time for me to come and give our new clients free estimates. Within a week, my wife will email out the estimate. Then, we'll set the dates and times for me to come and do the job.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Over a decade of being in the construction industry and 5 years in the real estate/apartment maintenance industry.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started my own handyman business on the side for 3 reasons. 1. To fill gaps in between my construction work, especially during the slow season. 2. By having my own handyman business, I don't have to be on call 24/7 like I used to when I worked for apartment complexes. 3. Due to my lower overhead & small local business, I can offer cheaper prices so more people can get their home projects done.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Anyone who needs a handyman, especially those who can't afford to hire full on construction companies.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

From small 5 minute garbage disposal repairs to demolishing and building huge decks that take about a week at a time, I enjoy them all but I do prefer smaller jobs for my handyman business.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Let the provider comes in person to give you a free estimate before agreeing to anything. Providers will be able to give a more accurate estimate after seeing the work needed in person. You will also be able to meet the person before hiring.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Plan ahead. Providers may not be available as soon as expected during the busy season. As a provider, I try my best to make sure my clients don't wait too long for their turns. I am willing to commute in the evenings and weekends so I can get the job done in reasonable amount of time.
